i often use a chisel as a scraper. i also have a range of small scrapers simply made by cutting up bigger scrapers, old back saw blades, etc. the hack saw is a wondrous invention! |

do your sharpening after since there will be burrs to clean up and perhaps some not so straight saw cuts to straighten up on the belt sander or file. besides it will need to be resharpened from time to time. |

I use the box cutter or wall board trim knife razor blades and burnish a curl on it. They are much stiffer than single edge razor blades. I also round the edges to avoid dig-in. |

The latest issue of WOODWORK magazine has a couple of articles with cool ideas for making scrapers and knives. |
